I am one full week into March and I have a confession to make. My family and I went to South Georgia last weekend to visit my family and, in going down there, I had two days of my Couch to 5K left to complete for the week. We arrived mid-afternoon and got settled in, then I went to Walmart to buy a pair of gym shorts to run in because I forgot to pack mine. At about 5:30 I left the house and did my 25-minute run and it went pretty well, except for the last five minutes. I’m not sure if it was really my shoes, but I felt the sensation of blisters on my feet suddenly and that made most of my run very uncomfortable.
A few hours after my run, I began to feel the burn in sides of my thighs, the achy pain in my knees, and the sheer exhaustion in my chest. This carried over into Saturday and as it began to get later, I eventually made the painful decision to let go of my ~50+ day streak of exercise. I know that I can’t let my willingness to give that up determine my momentum going forward, so I plan to hit it hard again this week and make up that day.
On a more positive note, I did complete a Perfect Month with #alltherings in February, which won’t happen this month, but I’m finally okay with that.
As you can see, March has been a little less colorful to start with, but I’m hoping to change that starting today.
This week, I have 3 days of 28-minute runs and I will wrap up my training next week with 3-30 minute runs. YIKES! I’m getting encouragement from friends and family and I know that I can finish strong and be ready for my first 5K on April 1st.
